Arnaud Palu was born in the south west of France in the footsteps of the Pyrénées mountains.
He is currently serving as CEO of several businesses within Saudi Arabia Sovereign fund.
He was in charge of the safety for the world record of 2007 with Herbert Nitsche diving at - 214 meters; he was part of an expedition in Greece to freedive on a 1941 sunken British submarine lying at - 55 meters; he freedived the tectonic plates of Iceland and dived inside caves without the aid of scuba equipment.
He considers himself lucky to have discovered his true passion at an early age and wants to show the world that you can find your calling too. That
is the purpose of the Pressure Seekers: a portal to inspire people and
help them realize that you can become who you deserve to be, at
any moment in your life.
Marina is working as a geologist in the oil and gas industry. She is the scientist of the team and its source of information for anything related to mineral formations. She is always challenged to name rocks we point at her and seems to be an inexhaustible source of knowledge.
Those past few years, Marina has started to explore a new way to freedive: mixing freediving and ballet all together. Beyond her physical capabilities to cope with two extremely demanding disciplines, apnea and ballet dancing, it is this desire to bridge worlds that do not belong to each other that made her join the team. She has a scientific rigor coupled with a natural sense of
curiosity that makes her being possibly the most positive member
of the team.
Loïc Sansous has had more lives than a cat. He didn’t die in all of them but came quite close a few times.
He made a name for himself in the music industry throughout years of collaborations with many artists..
He filmed a documentary in Mongolia and spent a long time roaming the wilderness with his camera. The hardship endured inspired him and profoundly impacted his work.
Loïc believes in capturing the moment. He loves to roam around, fading in the background in order to seize emotions. He has an instinctive way to shoot
that makes it for a very intimate style of filming.
His many interests in life makes him a Jack Of All Trade and Master
of Many: he composes his own music, mixes his own sounds, creates
his own filming tools.
Dorian is the kid of the group. But his maturity surpasses many of the older members of the gang.
He is a total geek when it comes to technology and has mastered the world of drones in no time. It allows him to push the possibilities of his machine to some unexplored levels.
When his drone crashes (it happens!), he keeps his composure, hunts the drone down like some stubborn hounds, gets it out of the most improbable and dangerous places and then reflects on what went wrong and comes out of all this a better man. Most people crashing their drone at the top of a 2500 meters mountain would lose their nerves. Not Dorian. So when he puts on his goggles and says “I am ready”, we know he means business.
Marin is the logistics of the group. When Arnaud picks a location, Marin sighs, rolls his eyes and immediately digs a map out to calculate the elevation, identify compass references and anticipate difficult crossing points. He makes the most difficult objective possible and very often sacrifices himself for the sake of the group, namely by carrying the heaviest payload.
Marin served as a medic in a fire brigade. He has witnessed and done so much as a medic that the consequence is that he can’t spell the word “panic”. His calm demeanor and knowledge bring peace of mind to the rest of the team; we all know that things are in safe hands with him around.
He lives on the Basque coast, facing the ocean. He was naturally drawn
to surfing and skateboarding.
If it glides, there is a chance that Laurent will try to surf it. At 53 years of age, he is a 49 years surf veteran. He is competing at international level and is also a judge at international competitions.
He carries in him the blood of an Italian and the spirit of a Basque. That makes it for a detonating mix.
Life hasn’t always been gentle on him. He had to face many hardships that forged him into a man with a deep understanding of life itself, tempered in empathy. He is the man that you want in a team when things go wrong: he will do anything to protect the people around him, even at his own expense.
We all think it is the Italian in him but he says it is because he has
a heart made of marshmallow. Which is also true.
Andy Laurie is a passionate advocate for freediving and has dedicated his life to teaching others about the sport. He encourages his students to develop a deep understanding and respect for the ocean and its inhabitants. He is also involved in various environmental and conservation efforts related to freediving and ocean protection.
He loves sharks so much that if he could, he would trade his car for a shark fin! His car being a Land Rover, Andy is the car mechanic of the team. And since he is a sound engineer by trade, he will be our ears in the desert.
